In 1998 USYS and a contingent of U.S. citizens residing in Europe initiated ODP Europe. Thousands of U.S. citizens reside in Europe via the military or foreign support services. In the past, particularly the U.S. men's national team program has found players in Europe that have originated from these U.S. citizens. Thomas Dooley is a great example of this. ODP Europe is a program that aims to identify and integrate players into the Region I ODP Camps, which take place throughout the year.

The US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program was formed in 1977 to identify a pool of players in each age group from which a National Team will be selected for international competition; to provide high-level training to benefit and enhance the development of players at all levels; and, through the use of carefully selected and licensed coaches, develop a mechanism for the exchange of ideas and curriculum to improve all levels of coaching. - ODP Purpose & Philosophy Continued... |
